RockWool – RW

Rock Wool is a stable insulation material manufactured from various types of diabase rock, mainly basalt of specific predetermined chemical compositions, which is melted at super high temperature in a technically advanced but simple process. The resulting natural silicate is drum spun at very high speeds to produce 'hair-fine' inert fibers that are bonded together with a special thermosetting resin and impregnated with special additives.

Advantages

  • Rock based wool insulation will not sustain mold growth. However, mold can grow on almost any material when it becomes wet and contaminated. Therefore, carefully inspect any insulation that has been exposed to water. If it shows any sign of mold growth it must be discarded. If the material is wet and does not show any sign of mold growth, it should be dried rapidly and thoroughly.
  • Caution: Glass mineral wool may cause temporary skin irritation. Wear long-sleeved, loosefitting clothing, head covering, gloves and eye protection when handling.
