RockWool – RW

Rockwool insulation is used for interior and exterior walls, linings and ceilings across all building applications. It enhances acoustic, thermal and fire perforamnce and can be used for new construction or renovation projects with steel framing.

Overview

Rockwool is a stable insulation material manufactured from various types of diabase rock, primarily basalt with specific predetermined chemical compositions. These raw materials are melted at extremely high temperatures in a technically advanced yet simple process. The resulting natural silicate is spun at very high speeds to produce 'hair-fine' inert fibres that are bonded using a special thermosetting resin and treated with special additives.

Caution
  • Rock mineral wool may cause temporary skin irritation. When handling, wear long-sleeved, loose-fitting clothing, head covering, gloves and eye protection.

Advantages

  • Rock-based wool insulation does not sustain mold growth. However, mould can grow on almost any material when it becomes wet and contaminated. Therefore, insulation exposed to water, If any signs of mold are present, the material must be discarded. Wet insulation without visible mold should be dried quickly and thoroughly.
